Rest weeks are over-rated a bit. Yeah, I rested this week, but that doesnt mean I can get in a couple of key workouts and rest between. So, my rest looked like this:
Monday off
Tues swim
Wed, a bit of all 3 sports
Thurs Key run
Fri off
Sat key bike
Sun key run
Total hours: 17:20
S/B/R hours: 16:05 (5 days)
Swim = 4500 m (5000 yd)(2 sessions) Time 1:28
Bike = 163 miles (3 rides) Time 9:33
Run = 40 (4 runs) Time 5:05
45 min yoga
30 minute leg weight session
Yeah, I pretty much took 4 of 7 days easy. Final 2 days on the weekend made up about 60% of my run and bike mileage for the week.
I think a problem with taking an entire week resting, it that most of us get our big workouts in on weekends. Thus, an enitire week resting can mean no significant hard workouts for 2 weeks.
I am not really over training now so I dont need that much rest.
