Arrived safe in Germany Sunday morning. Diverted to Cleveland airport due to bad weather. Arrived in NY as our connection was at the gate and gate was closed and about 100 gates down the terminal. I ran, nearly sprinting to the gate to catch them. When there, they wouldnt let us on the plane because the gate was closed and they were ready to taxi down runway. Well, after nearly cursing out the attendants, 6 more people arrived to the gate, also late from delay's. This thankfully prompted them to open the plane back up and let us all on. Well...we both new there was no possible way any of our bags could have made that connection!
No bags, no bikes. Finally received bags and bikes 8pm Monday. So, planned on biking Sunday, or Monday. Will have to bike tomorrow. Plan is 3 easy hours, 3 efforts of 8-10 minutes each.
Sunday, swam with Hannes and bother Andreas, with their girlfriends, one of whom is competing in IM Germany the week after Roth.
Swam in local lake, very beautiful, 1200 meters, 20 minutes.
I am not thinking of the race at all yet....maybe wed or thursday I will start.
Monday:
45 minutes of yoga in morning after breakfast
Swim 2100 in local 50 meter pool (43 minutes)
600 meter warm up
6 X 100 on 20-30 sec rest, all sub 1:38
8 X 50 same rest all sub 40
500 cd
Sauna training, 15 minutes, about 170 degrees
before dinner: 30 minutes easy run, 8 min pace. 2 X 1 min pickups to 7 min pace.#
Achilles 2 out of 10 pain but mostly just tight. Soaked in ice bath 2 X 20 minutes after.
What can I say...this place is beautiful, warm. Hannes has horses and lives in a town of 600 people. Very nice. His bro lives in a bigger city, 40 min. away. He looks very fit, ready for Roth. Very thin, legs look very lean and strong. I think he'll dó well.
Breakfast:
4 slices of toast with strawberry jam, 1 hard boiled egg. 1 8 oz yogurt, juice, coffee
Lunch: lamb wrap with mixed vegies...this thing was pretty damn big. Coke.
Dinner: two 6 oz pieces of grilled chicken, side of pasta with garlic and olive oil, small portion of hot cheese and garlic bread. Slice of wheat bread.
