Workout Summary: Swim 4000 meters (1:32)
Well, jumped in the masters swim in Bend. Didnt count on swimming so fast. This workout was not only long, but the pace kicked the crap out of both of us. Typically, I swim 200 meter repeats around 3:15-3:25 and 200 yd repeats in 2:50. So, swimming them in 3:00-3:10 was demanding for me. We were so kicked after, we went home and slept for a couple of hours. I felt like I had just run an 18 miler. So, we will jump in the swim again tomorrow, but hopefully have the strength to spin 2.5-3 hours after.
Swim:
400 warm up, easy
9 X 50 kick: various kicks, side, free, back, and fly. All with fins.
3 X 800, 1 min rest between each 800
First: 800 free 13:00
Second: 4 X 200, 3:14/3:05/3:04/3:01, all with 30 sec. rest between
Third: 800 free 12:50: I lead the group for first 200 but I had to use pull buoy or I could have never lead. Then ditched the buoy and drafted the rest. This was tough. Every 4th link we had to breath every 5th stroke. I did this twice, then got tired of swallowing mouthfulls of water so stopped for the second half.
1 min rest after third 800:
Then 6 X 100/25, all 1:32-35
100 cd pull
Diet:
4 oz of cereal 1 hour prior to swim
After swim: Grilled chicken sub from Quiznos, 2 oz bag of chips, water. Chai tea.
Dinner: sushi
