So
I pulled the trigger and finally hired a coach. Not necessarily for myself but for Ann. I think I have taken her as far as I can, esp on the bike. Coach gave us a bit of a deal for the two of us so I think it was a great deal.
Olaf Sabatschus [olafsabatschus@gmx.de]
Finished top in the males at Kona several times.
His "comeback" at age 35 in 2007?
Finished with an 8:42 at IM Brazil, overall 7th male in May.
Then posted an 8:15 at Roth, Germany last month, 5th overall male right behind Hellriegel.
I think he knows what he's doing!
I have had many email conversations and I have high confidence he can help bring out the best in both of us.
Yes I realize I was "finished" with Ironman for awhile. I was convinced by a good friend to "ride the wave". What the hell. Why stop now when we are both posting personal bests at all distances. 1 more year, then we'll see.
Regarding Olaf, I have to trust in him fully. I will not "piece meal" his program like so many athletes do with their coaches. This is the only way this will work for me. The input already from him has impressed me, esp regarding my own prior routines and my strengths.
So, start Next Monday. Already looking at my ride next saturday, I dont think I can handle it. It's not long, but extremely aggrressive. We'll see.
My low back has been hurting, hence the light work lately. Hope this will resolve over the next couple of days.
Workout Today
Bike on Computrainer 60 minutes.
First 30 minutes at 150 watts, 90 cadence.
Then final 30 minutes did 8 X 2 min spinervals at 75-80 cadence and 250 W
First 4 took 2 min rest between at 150 W and second 4 took 1 min rest at 150 W. Rest cadence held at 90
Low back still sore but on the "better" side.
